TL;DR

  • Eyebrow wax: $20+ at Marvelous Nails & Lashes. Lip is $15+, chin $25+ and full face $65+.
  • A brow wax shapes, it does not redesign. We remove strays below, above and between the brows and follow your natural arch.
  • Skip waxing if you take isotretinoin or have in the past six months, or use tretinoin on your face, as the American Academy of Dermatology advises.
  • Nevada bans double-dipping. Each wooden stick goes into the wax once and is then thrown away.
  • Aftercare is simple: no makeup, exfoliants or sun on the area for the rest of the day.

`eyebrow wax near me` and `brow wax las vegas` are quick-service searches, and the main questions are price, pain and how not to end up with brows that are too thin. This guide answers all three and explains the safety rules every Nevada salon must follow.

What Is an Eyebrow Wax?

An eyebrow wax is a quick hair removal service in which warm wax is applied to stray hairs around the brows and removed against the direction of growth, pulling the hairs out from the root. It cleans up the shape you already have, so brows look tidier for longer than tweezing alone, without changing their natural character.

What it is not: brow lamination, tinting, microblading or a full brow redesign. Those are separate services with different products and risks.

ServicePrice
Eyebrows$20+
Lip$15+
Chin$25+
Side burns$25+
Full face$65+

The "+" means a starting price. Very full brows or extra tidy-up work can take a little longer. Ask for the total before we start.

Common combinations:

  • Brows and lip: $20 + $15 = $35+
  • Brows, lip and chin: $20 + $15 + $25 = $60+, close to the $65+ full face, which also includes other areas

Booking with nails or lashes. A brow wax fits easily into a manicure or lash appointment. If you are getting lash extensions the same day, tell us so we can plan the order and keep wax and adhesive well apart. Our guide to combining services in one visit explains scheduling. All prices are on our pricing page.

2. What Happens During a Brow Wax

  1. Consultation. We ask what you like about your current shape and whether you are growing anything out.
  2. Mapping. We look at where your brows naturally start, arch and end, and agree which hairs to remove.
  3. Cleanse. The area is cleaned and dried so wax grips the hair, not oil.
  4. Wax. Wax is applied with a fresh wooden stick in the direction of growth and removed against it, in small sections.
  5. Tweeze. Any hairs too short for wax are tweezed.
  6. Trim, if wanted. Long hairs can be brushed up and trimmed.
  7. Soothe. A calming product finishes the service.

Does it hurt? The American Academy of Dermatology is clear that removing wax can be painful and that skin can be red and irritated for a short while afterwards. Brows are a small area, so the sting is brief.

Our shaping philosophy: it is far easier to take a little more next time than to wait months for over-waxed brows to grow back. We keep to your natural arch unless you ask for something else.

3. Who Should Not Wax Their Brows

The AAD says waxing is not recommended if you are currently:

  • Taking isotretinoin, a prescription acne medication, or have taken it within the past six months
  • Using an antibiotic
  • Applying tretinoin (retinoic acid) to your skin

Also tell us if you:

  • Use other prescription or strong over-the-counter retinoids or exfoliating acids on your face
  • Have had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or laser treatment recently. Our microdermabrasion facial guide explains why waxing and resurfacing should not happen on the same day
  • Have sunburn, a rash, cold sores or broken skin near the brows

Why it matters: the AAD warns that when wax is removed, skin could tear. Medications that thin or sensitise skin make that more likely. If any of these apply, tweezing or threading elsewhere may be a safer option until your doctor says otherwise.

4. Wax Hygiene: What Nevada Requires

The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology sets specific wax rules in NAC 644A.740. Among them:

  • "Wax pots must be kept covered and the exterior cleaned daily."
  • "Disposable spatulas and wooden sticks may be dipped into the wax only once and then must be discarded without using the other end."
  • "Any surface touched by a used wax stick must be disinfected immediately after the service."
  • If wax is contaminated by double-dipping or skin contact, the pot must be emptied, the wax discarded and the pot disinfected.

Why double-dipping matters. The AAD explains that heated wax is not hot enough to kill bacteria and other germs, which is why each stick should go into the pot only once. It also recommends that estheticians use wooden sticks rather than a metal spatula to apply hot wax.

You are allowed to watch. If you ever see a stick go back into the pot after touching skin, it is reasonable to ask the technician to stop. Our clean nail salon checklist lists other hygiene signs to look for in any salon.

5. Aftercare and How to Grow Brows Out

For the rest of the day:

  • No makeup on the waxed skin, to avoid clogging freshly opened follicles
  • No exfoliants, retinoids or acids on the brow area
  • Avoid direct sun, saunas and very hot showers; Las Vegas sun on freshly waxed skin can sting
  • Do not touch or pick at any small bumps; they usually settle within a day or two

Between appointments:

  • Resist tweezing strays in the brow line; let us do it at the next visit so the shape stays even
  • Moisturise the area as part of your normal routine; desert air dries the skin around the brows too

Growing out thin brows? Allow several months without waxing or tweezing inside the shape. We can still tidy the area well outside the brow, which keeps you looking groomed while the rest grows in.

How long results last. Regrowth timing varies by person. Our how long does waxing last guide gives typical rebooking intervals, and the wider waxing guide covers every area we wax.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is an eyebrow wax in Las Vegas?

At Marvelous Nails & Lashes, an eyebrow wax starts at $20. Lip is $15+, chin $25+, and a full face wax is $65+.

How long does an eyebrow wax take?

It is one of the quickest services we offer and fits easily before or after a manicure or lash appointment. Very full brows take a little longer.

Does eyebrow waxing hurt?

There is a brief sting as each strip comes off. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that wax removal can be painful and skin may be red for a short while.

Can I wax my eyebrows if I use retinol or tretinoin?

The AAD says waxing is not recommended if you apply tretinoin to your skin or take isotretinoin now or within the past six months. Tell us about any retinoid before your service.

How do I stop my brows being waxed too thin?

Ask for a clean-up that follows your natural arch, and say if you are growing them out. We remove less rather than more on a first visit.

Is it safe to wax brows before lash extensions?

Yes, but tell us you are having both so we can plan the order and keep wax away from the lash area.

What should I avoid after an eyebrow wax?

For the rest of the day, avoid makeup, exfoliants, retinoids, direct sun, saunas and very hot showers on the waxed area.

What does Nevada require for wax hygiene?

Nevada rule NAC 644A.740 requires covered wax pots, single-dip disposable sticks that are discarded after use, and disinfection of any surface touched by a used stick.
